Join us for the South Florida premiere of Tyrus, the multi-award winning feature documentary film about the life, art and impact of pioneering Chinese American painter Tyrus Wong.

A brilliant artist, Tyrus Wong once exhibited with Picasso and Matisse. A film and animation legend, Wong is the visual genius behind such classics as Bambi and Rebel Without a Cause. A Chinese American pioneer and hero, Wong survived Angel Island, the Chinese Exclusion Act and the Great Depression. His talent, humor, humility and resilience are the hallmarks of his character that are explored in this in-depth portrait of his life.

Tyrus premiered at the 42nd Telluride Film Festival and has since garnered awards at film festivals across the country including California, Boston, Philadelphia and Hawaii. The film uses original interviews of Wong, guest interviews, archival footage and photos along with clips and concept art from early Hollywood movies and his 80 years of work to tell the story of his remarkable journey from his birthplace in Guangzhou, China to the boarding houses of LAs old Chinatown, to the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Best-selling author Lisa See, joins the cast of artists, writers and film historians who, along with award-winning writer, director and producer Pamela Tom, bring the tale of this rare individual to the public eye.
