The Recycled Orchestra of the Hudson Valley

Event Type: Children's Programs
Date: 7/11/2018
Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Time: 2:15 PM
Description:
Lisa Marie will present this family workshop, based on the story of Ada’s Violin : The Story of The recycled Orchestra of Paraguay by Susan Hood. We will think of ways in which we can relate to the children of Cateura and discuss our knowledge about instruments and music making. Families will be presented with 5 everyday disposable materials (coffee cans, plastic vegetable containers and such), to give them a new life as part of our very own Library Jug Band. We will celebrate music as a form of storytelling together with sounds and movement, as we sing and dance to rhythms from South America and the Hudson Valley.

Location: Youth Programming Room
