 Help create a Wikipedia community in Beacon.

Join us for a communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art and feminism and Beacon. This local event is organized by local library advocate, Ms. Rajene Hardeman, as part of the international annual Art+Feminism campaign. We will provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedia editor (it's easier than you think!), as well as reference materials and refreshments.

Event Information

Who should attend: Anyone who wants to edit or learn how to edit Wikipedia. All gender identities are welcome.

What to bring: your laptop, power cord and a sense of adventure.

Agenda:

11:00am-Noon: Editing Tutorial for Beginners

Noon-3:00pm: Open editing time (come and go as your schedule allows)

Before the Event:

RSVP through Eventbrite. Go to www.eventbrite.com and from there search for "Beacon Art and Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon 2019"

Create a Wikipedia Account: A Wikipedia account helps us track how many edits are made during the event. If you don't already have one, learn more about creating a username (and decide if you use your real name). Then create your account. Go to www.wikipedia.org and then click "Create Account" in upper right hand corner. At "create account" page - there will be a message of "help me choose" next to where you will enter a username...this will give you details on the importance of choosing a username.
