ZOOM Youth Philosophers Cafe

Event Type: Young Adult Programs
Date: 5/27/2020
Start Time: 4:00 PM
End Time: 5:00 PM
Description:
Open to students grades 6-9. Join moderator Dan Fisherman in an online communal dialog that explores a philosophical, ethical, or socio-political issue. Each session is used to probe underlying assumptions and beliefs about the world. The goal is not to come out on top in an argument, but to arrive at a deeper appreciation for a subject’s richness and complexity.

Dan Fisherman has been facilitating communal philosophical inquiry in the Hudson Valley since 2003, when he started the philosophy with children program at the Randolph School in Wappingers Falls. He has worked with children at every grade level, most recently with middle and high school students at Poughkeepsie Day School and the Rivertown Homeschoolers Hub. Dan is a member of the faculty at Montclair State University, where he teaches educational philosophy. He has a Masters degree in analytical philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, and a doctorate from Montclair State.
