|LAST LOCKDOWN: A Tribute to the Parkland Shooting|
Event Type: Community Services|
Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Time: 8:30 PM
During the first weekend of June, a statue will be delivered and installed in the Gallery on the lower level and will remain there for the month. This will coincide with New York's Gun Violence Awareness Month which was created in an effort to raise awareness surrounding the issue of needless and senseless gun violence in New York’s communities. The statue was created by Manuel Oliver, father of 17 year old Joaquin Oliver, a victim of the Parkland shooting, along with artists Dan Crumrine, Sean Leonard, Caleb Sawyer, Adam Fontenault, Sarah Hoffman, and Susan Levine. The statue is a poignant tribute that memorializes this historic tragedy. On Monday, June 3 at 7pm, Mr. Oliver will speak about how the piece came to be, his activism, and his art.
