 Part I (May 8): This day-long workshop will provide basic training in providing information sources and services to library users seeking reference assistance. We will explore how to evaluate information sources, as well as how to optimize searching and information retrieval. Interpersonal and customer service skills will also be explored.

Part II (August 22): This workshop will compliment and extend the skills gained from the core “Information Sources & Services” course. Using LIS resources, Diving Deeper will engage with the Library Bill of Rights, the Patriot Act, patron privacy issues, tiered-reference strategies, and models for data collection/statistics.

This is a required course for the Certificate of Public Librarianship program. 25 CEU will be awarded upon completion of Parts I & II of the course.
