Agriculture Literacy Week and Simple Suppers

Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont works to promote organic practices to build an economically viable, ecologically sound and socially just Vermont agricultural system that benefits all living things. In partnership with VT Department of Libraries, VT Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets we are celebrating the tenth annual VT Agricultural Literacy Week, held the 3rd week of November. Every year we pick a different agricultural theme and this year will be “Cooking in the Library.”

With local libraries and partner organizations over the years we have increased awareness of local agriculture and reach hundreds of community members statewide. We have created an activity, known as “Simple Suppers” for libraries to engage community members in the theme by cooking a simple meal together, highlighting seasonal and local foods.
