Day 1 (March 5): Why is cataloging important? What should you, a busy library director, know about cataloging and classification? What are some easy tools to use?
This class will focus on all of these questions. We will explore the elements of a catalog record, do some hands-on practice, and look at cataloging in the context of your libraries. You will walk away from this class with an enhanced understanding of why cataloging matters at your library and with practical knowledge of cataloging, classification, and holdings records that will make your job easier and improve service to your patrons.
Day 2*** (April 2): At this session we will review cataloging work assigned on day 1 and continue the discussion about practical cataloging in your library.
Attendance both days is required and fulfills the Certificate of Public Librarianship Cataloging requirement (25 CEUs)
