 This workshop will focus on administrative structure and responsibilities in Vermont public libraries: working with trustees and select boards,laws that govern library work, and the challenges and opportunities of local control.
The second half of the afternoon will cover finance: financial responsibilities of the library director, building and tracking a budget, advocating for budget requests to Trustees and Select Boards, the difference between municipal and incorporated libraries, with a brief introduction to grants and fundraising. VTLIB staff will be joined by Gary Deziel, UVM Extension Assistant Professor for Community Development, MBA SHRM Certified Professional, and library trustee.
