|2021 Library Directors Summit: Directors Excellence Session 1|
Event Type: Conference|
Start Time: 10:00 AM
End Time: 12:00 PM
This Directors Excellence training is a partnership between the Vermont Department of Libraries and NCXT. Based in Minneapolis, NXCT has worked throughout the country with library leaders on strategic planning, professional development, antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Directors Excellence training comprises two sessions. The first is for new and emerging directors and the second is for directors with more than two years of experience and/or people who attended session one.
Session 1 description:
The complex, demanding, and sometimes political work of being a library director requires an artful blend of academic knowledge and lived experiences. However, educational attainment disparities too often outweigh the lived experiences of emerging directors, creating demographic inequality in our state’s library directorship.
But what if we imagine our state’s library patrons experiencing better services through a more qualified and diverse directorship?
At the workshop, current and emerging library directors will learn skills to identify available resources available and attract those resources to their library. Participants will learn about the role of the contemporary library director, developing and managing library budgets, and locating grants and funding opportunities.
This workshop will be held on MS Teams. Link to access it is on the VTLIB website CE page.
