Censorship: It CAN Happen Here! Be Prepared!

Event Type: Dept. of Libraries Webinar
Date: 1/27/2022
Start Time: 11:00 AM
End Time: 12:30 PM
Book challenges and issues concerning censorship have been on the rise around the country in the last few months. Do you know what you would do if materials were challenged in your library?

Join VTLIB staff as we explore ways to prepare for materials challenges and share best practices when responding to issues involving censorship within your community. Learn about censorship trends across the country, steps you can take to create a strong supporting network, procedures to have in place, and strategies to maintain robust collections that serve everyone in your community.

Homework: If you have a form patrons can fill out to request a review of materials, please have it available. If you do not currently have a form, think about what that might look like for your library (we will share sample forms during the workshop).
